Our Technology

Innovative Green Chemistry

Polygreen's environmental SAP (eSAP) is the first biodegradable and biocompatible SAP material that meets the highest absorbance requirements in the industry.

Our material is a hybrid composition of a natural, protein-based, biopolymer and another, proprietary, polymer based on deep polymer technology. It forms a superabsorbent polymer with active release-control features.

Proprietary manufacturing process

Polygreen developed a sustainable proprietary process technology that meets the efficiency requirements of the industry, has zero waste and low energy consumption.

Disruptive Products

Polygreen's eSAP has versatile product forms beyond powder.

This enables the re-design and eco-design of current products.

The resulting high-end tailor-made products disrupt the following industries: hygiene, agriculture, packaging, geochemistry and wound dressing..

Super absorbent polymers at a glance

SAPs (Super Absorbent Polymers) are polymers which can absorb and retain extremely large amounts of a liquid: up to 50 times their weight in saline/urine liquid and over 300 times their weight in distilled water.

Biodegradability. The commonly used poly-acrylate SAP is  a petroleum based non-biodegradable polymer that takes over 100 years to decompose. It constitutes the heart of the absorbent core of diapers which makes diapers an ecological disaster, particularly since diapers constitute up to 6% of solid municipal waste and over 20% of non-recycled plastic waste.

Biocompatibility. The common SAP is also non-bio-compatible. Typically it contains more than 400 PPM free monomers that are hazardous when in direct contact with skin. This prohibits its use in hygienic applications where there is a direct contact with the skin.
